Tascam DR-40X Four-Track Audio Recorder USB Interface
Category: Audio Recorders

Key Features of the Tascam DR-40X Audio Interface
Line Level Inputs
The Tascam DR-40X features dual Neutrik XLR/TRS combo jacks that support both mic-level and +4dBu line-level inputs. These inputs can accept balanced microphone or line level from mixers or the FOH console. The microphone preamp includes +48V phantom power and ample gain, making it ideal for detailed recordings with condenser or electret microphones.
Four-track Recording
The Tascam DR-40X offers versatile four-track recording capabilities. Beyond normal stereo channel recording and dual recording mode, it supports 4CH Mode, which allows simultaneous recording of two different stereo feeds. Flexibly combine the sources: record the built-in microphones along with a pair of external mics like close-up and ambient mics, or capture the built-in mics along with a balanced line input, such as the feed from a mixer, alongside room sound.
Wide Capturing Range
The DR-40X delivers high-quality recordings with its stereo built-in condenser microphones, capturing every detail from whispers to loud sounds up to 125dB SPL. The microphones are adjustable unidirectional, enabling tight stereo imaging in X-Y pattern or a more ambient recording in A-B pattern.
Overwrite Mode
For quick edits, the Overwrite mode in the Tascam DR-40X allows recording from a desired point, directly overwriting any unwanted section of a previous recording. It provides destructive editing with a single level of undo, making it easy to refine your recordings.
Nondestructive Overdubbing
The overdubbing function permits recording additional parts, such as a guitar solo, over a previously recorded track. This nondestructive editing ensures the original file remains intact, making re-recording effortless.
