The recording level can be set manually or automatically, and the device has an integrated limiter to prevent clipping.
The timer function and marker function provide additional capabilities for recording, while the overdub feature enables users to record multiple layers of audio. The device also has a dictation mode specifically designed for human voice recordings and transcriptions, and the menu is available in multiple languages.
The device features a built-in speaker for audio playback, as well as a stereo 3.5 mm mini jack for microphone/line input (with plug-in power) and headphone/line output. It connects to computers via a USB 2.0 interface and can be powered by 2 x batteries, NiMH rechargeable batteries (size: AA), USB, or an optional power supply (Tascam PS-P520E, not included, must be ordered separately).
